Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread around. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
