The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
