Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the loosed ones successively 1 And by the winds that blow violently, 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 The mountains reduced to dust and blown away, 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 If one asks, "To which day have such calamitous events been postponed?" 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Did We not destroy the ancients, 16 Then did We follow them up with later ones. 17 Thus do We deal with the guilty. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a period (of gestation), determined (according to need)? 22 We determined, how excellent a Determiner are We! 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Did We not make the earth as a gathering place 25 The living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 28 (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 Seeming like yellow camels. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 This is the day on which they shall not speak, 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
