The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 The disbelievers say, "Will we really return to our former state?" 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
