The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a great day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 What could let you know what the 'Illiyoon is! 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded for what they did? 36
