The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
