The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 The roof raised high, 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and bliss 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
