The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Each one's right to drink being established (by turns). 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 39 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 40
