Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages,] sent forth in waves 1 And those raging swiftly; 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 And those that distinguish distinctly, 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 [promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning! 6 Surely that which ye are promised will befall. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what Day are these signs postponed? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be? 14 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 Thereafter We shall cause to follow them the latter ones. 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 The which We placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed, 21 for an appointed time? 22 Then We facilitated (your birth). How well do We calculate! 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 "Depart ye to a Shadow (of smoke ascending) in three columns, 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 and yellow camels. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!" 39 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 40
