He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
