The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
ALL PRAISE is due to God, who has bestowed this divine writ from on high upon His servant, and has not allowed any deviousness to obscure its meaning: 1 (But hath made it) straight, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to bring unto the believers who do good works the news that theirs will be a fair reward, 2 They will abide therein for ever. 3 And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son." 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood! 5 (O Muhammad), if they do not believe in this Message, you will perhaps torment yourself to death with grief, sorrowing over them. 6 Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. 7 In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain. 8 Or deemest thou that the People of the Cave and the Inscription are a wonder among Our portents? 9 When the youths sought refuge in the cave, they said: Our Lord! grant us mercy from Thee, and provide for us a right course in our affair. 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 and thereafter We revived them to find out which of the two parties could best calculate the length of their stay. 12
