Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in [the story of the tribe of] Thamud, too, when they were told, "You shall enjoy your life for [but] a little while," 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
