The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and shade extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
