The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Successful indeed are the believers; 1 Those who humbly cry in their prayers. 2 And who keep aloof from what is vain, 3 And who are givers of poor-rate, 4 and guard their private parts 5 Except from their wives or the legal bondwomen that they possess, for then there is no blame upon them. 6 But whoever seeks to go beyond that, these are they that exceed the limits; 7 And those who of their trusts and covenant are keepers. 8 and who guard their prayers [from all worldly intent]. 9 These are the real gainers, 10 Who shall inherit Paradise; therein they shall be abiders. 11 We created man from an essence of clay, 12 then We placed him as a drop of fluid in a safe place, 13 Then We fashioned the sperm into an embryo, then fashioned the embryo into a shapeless lump of flesh; then from the lump of flesh We fashioned bones, then clothed the bones with flesh. Thus We formed him into a new creation. So blessed be God the best of Creators. 14 after this you shall surely die. 15 Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected. 16 And We have created above you seven paths, and We are never unmindful of creation. 17 And We sent down water from the sky in proper measure, then stored it in the earth; and indeed We are Able to take it away! 18 Then We brought forth for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you, and whereof you eat. 19 And created the tree that comes forth from Mount Sinai – that grows containing oil and curry for the eaters. 20 And Verily! In the cattle there is indeed a lesson for you. We give you to drink (milk) of that which is in their bellies. And there are, in them, numerous (other) benefits for you, and of them you eat. 21 and by them - as by the ships [over the sea] - you are borne [overland]. 22
