And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
