AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 So he conceived in his mind a fear on account of them. They said: Fear not. And they gave him the good news of a boy possessing knowledge. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 “To throw upon them stones of baked clay.” 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile. 43 But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on. 44 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
