He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
