The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
