Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
