The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
