The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
