The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Requital corresponding. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
