The assembly of Pharaoh's nation said: 'This man is a wellversed sorcerer 109 who wants to drive you out of your land! " [Said Pharaoh:] "What, then, do you advise?" 110 They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers 111 That they may bring to you every enchanter possessed of knowledge. 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)." 114 They said: O Musa! will you cast, or shall we be the first to cast? 115 He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic. 116 Then We directed Moses: 'Now you throw your rod.' And lo! it swallowed up all their false devices. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 So they were defeated there and then, and were returned disgraced. 119 and the magicians flung themselves prostrate, 120 Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the Worlds,- 121 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 122 Said Pharaoh, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know. 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
