And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 Do not betray me 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
