He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
