The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 So man will neither have any strength nor any aide. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And no trifle. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
