The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its brightness 1 By the Moon as she follows him; 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 Then He inspired it to understand what is right and wrong for it; 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
