The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
