Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" 11 : He said: "O Lord, I fear that they will deny me. 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 Pharaoh said to Moses, "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you spent several years of your life with us. 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 Moses replied: "I committed that act erringly. 20 Then I fled from you when I feared you, and my Lord bestowed on me wisdom and made me one of the sent ones. 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Said Pharaoh: "And what [and who] is that 'Sustainer of all the worlds'?" 23 [Moses] answered: "[He is] the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them: if you would but [allow yourselves to] be convinced!" 24 (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Did ye not listen (to what he says)?" 25 Moses said: "(He is) Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore." 26 Said he, 'Surely your Messenger who was sent to you is possessed!' 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Said he, 'If thou takest a god other than me, I shall surely make thee one of the imprisoned.' 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 (No sooner had he said this than) Moses threw down his rod and behold, it was a veritable serpent, 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo! it appeared white to the onlookers. 33
