And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn) 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 Then ask them whether your Lord has daughters and they have sons. 149 Or created We the angels females while they were present? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What ails you then, how you judge? 154 Will you not then remember? 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Then produce your writ, if ye are truthful. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 for, verily, neither you [blasphemers] nor the objects of your worship 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 Except the one who will go into the blazing fire. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise 166 And surely they used to say: 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 We would have been the chosen servants of Allah." 169 Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know. 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. 182
