۞ When (Jesus) the son of Mary is held up as an example, behold, thy people raise a clamour thereat (in ridicule)! 57 and said: “Who is better, our deities or he?” They said so only out of contentiousness. They are a disputatious people. 58 He (Prophet Jesus) was only a worshiper whom We favored and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 And verily he is a sign of the Hour wherefore dubitate not thereof, and follow Me: this is the straight path. 61 Let not Satan bar you; he is for you a manifest foe. 62 And when Isa came with evidences, he said: of a surety I have come unto you with wisdom, and to expound unto you some of that wherein ye differ; so fear Allah and obey me. 63 Allah is my Lord and your Lord; therefore, serve Him. That is the Straight Way.” 64 But the factions among them differed. Then woe unto those who do wrong from the doom of a painful day. 65 Do they wait for aught but the hour, that it should come! upon them all of a sudden while they do not perceive? 66 Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing. 67
