The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 has created man, 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 but weigh things equitably and skimp not in the balance. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He has given freedom to the two great bodies of water, so that they might meet: 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
