Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
