Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 He said: O my people! Surely I am a plain warner to you: 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I called them openly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 rain from the sky, 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 He has created you by stages! 14 Do you not see how Allah has created seven heavens, one upon the other, 15 And has placed the moon therein, an illumination, and has placed the sun, a lighted lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet, 19 that thereof you may thread ways, ravines." 20
