He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
