The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 When whither go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
