The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them. 81 And they used to carve dwellings in the hills, without fear. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 Out of what they had gained, nothing proved to be of any benefit to them. 84 And We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, except with the Truth; and indeed the Last Day will come, therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), forbear graciously. 85 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-creator, the All-knowing. 86 We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity,"- 89 Like as We sent down on the dividers 90 Those who have made the scripture bits. 91 But, by thy Sustainer! [On the Day of Judgment] We shall indeed call them to account, one and all, 92 Of what they used to do. 93 Promulgate thou that which thou art commanded, and turn away from the associaters. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. 96 Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say. 97 but extol thou thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise Him, and be of those who prostrate themselves [before Him] in adoration, 98 And serve thy Lord till the Inevitable cometh unto thee. 99
