The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
