The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And who glide with ease. 3 By the angels hastening, 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
