He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And whereas he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
