Hizb 46
< random >
Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We caused him to be cast forth on to the beach, sick as he was, 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 And they believed, whrefore We let them enjoy life for a season. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 They have set up a kinship between Him and the jinn; and the jinn know that they shall be arraigned. 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 So you and your deities 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 Save him who is to burn in hell. 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 "If only we had a tradition [to this effect] from our forebears, 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So turn thou from them for a while, 174 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 And watch (how they fare) and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 179 Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And all praise unto Allah the Lord of the worlds. 182
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
