Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning to mankind, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
