The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then will you go? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
