The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
