Hizb 46
< random >
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 Then lots were drawn and he became of those who were pushed into the sea. 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick. 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Did He choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you, how is it that you judge? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment-Seat)! 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 for, verily, neither you [blasphemers] nor the objects of your worship 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell! 163 [All forces of nature praise God and say:] "Among us, too, there is none but has a place assigned to it [by Him]; 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 What though they would say, 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 assuredly they shall be helped, 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So turn away from them for a while. 174 and see them; soon they shall see! 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 Stay away from them for a while 178 And see thou: they themselves shall presently see. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 And all praise to God, the Lord of all the worlds. 182
God the Almighty always says the truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
