The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 and a Book inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
