The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is no joke. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
