The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM RA. These are the verses of the Book and the perspicuous oration. 1 It could be that those who disbelieve will wish that they were Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman! 6 Why dost thou not bring before us angels, if thou art a man of truth? 7 We send not down the angels, save with truth; 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 Indeed, We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad SAW) amongst the sects (communities) of old. 10 but there was never a messenger who came to them but they mocked him: 11 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty: 12 They believe not therein, though the example of the men of old hath gone before. 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 They would certainly say: Only our eyes have been covered over, rather we are an enchanted people. 15
