Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 which then smoothly speed along, 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 In whose wealth the suppliant and the deprived had a share. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
