Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And by oath of the soul that reproaches itself. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. 4 In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 Wherefore when We recite it, follow thou the reciting thereof. 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 and he realises that the hour of parting is come, 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
